A golf-course community with established neighborhoods, extensive amenities, Denton ISD schools, and a convenient location in southern Denton County.
Lantana offers something that can be difficult to find elsewhere in southern Denton County: an established master-planned community with mature landscaping, extensive neighborhood amenities, on-site schools, and a wide variety of homes.
Located between Argyle, Flower Mound, and Denton, Lantana covers approximately 1,780 acres and includes about 4,000 single-family homes. The community was designed around Lantana Golf Club, with distinct neighborhoods connected by parks, trails, green spaces, and community facilities.
Living in Lantana feels different from living in a typical subdivision. It operates almost like its own small town, even though it is technically an unincorporated community in Denton County. Residents have access to multiple pools, fitness facilities, sports courts, playgrounds, trails, community events, and neighborhood schools.
For buyers who want an amenity-rich community without giving up convenient access to Flower Mound, Denton, Argyle, and the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Lantana deserves a close look.

Lantana feels more like a self-contained community than a typical subdivision.
The development includes approximately 4,000 single-family homes spread across multiple individually named neighborhoods. Residents have access to community pools, fitness facilities, parks, playgrounds, trails, sports courts and organized events. Several Denton ISD schools are also located within Lantana.
The experience can vary depending on where you live. Some homes are close to schools, pools and major community entrances. Others back to the golf course, green spaces or quieter interior streets. Homes were constructed across different phases of development, creating noticeable differences in architecture, lot size, condition and interior finishes.
Lantana does not have a traditional downtown or municipal government. Residents generally travel toward Flower Mound, Highland Village, Bartonville, Argyle or Denton for additional shopping, restaurants and services.
For many buyers, that is a reasonable tradeoff for established surroundings, community amenities and access to several parts of southern Denton County. For others, association costs, property taxes or travel time to major employment centers may require closer consideration.
Lantana works best when buyers evaluate the specific property and its location within the community, not simply the Lantana name.

Lantana offers mature landscaping and established streets along with homes built across multiple phases, styles and price ranges.

Residents have access to pools, fitness facilities, parks, playgrounds, trails, sports courts, gathering spaces and community events.

Multiple Denton ISD elementary schools and Harpool Middle School are located within Lantana, although assignments depend on the property address.

Buyers can compare interior lots, greenbelt properties, golf-course homes, larger lots and homes in different sections of the community.

Lantana provides access to Argyle, Flower Mound, Highland Village, Denton and surrounding areas through FM 407, FM 1171 and nearby roads.

Lantana real estate is shaped by the community’s size, age and variety of individually named neighborhoods.
Buyers can find traditional single-family homes, one-story and two-story layouts, homes with game rooms or media rooms, golf-course properties, greenbelt lots and larger custom or luxury homes. Architectural styles, builders, lot sizes and interior finishes vary because the community was developed across multiple phases.
Many Lantana homes include features that remain popular with North Texas buyers, including open living spaces, dedicated offices, multiple living areas, outdoor entertaining spaces and three-car garage options. However, buyers should look beyond the photographs and square footage. Roof age, HVAC systems, windows, drainage, foundation performance, interior updates and other major components can differ significantly between homes.
The location within Lantana also matters. Proximity to schools, amenity centers, community entrances, golf-course areas and surrounding roads can affect convenience, traffic, privacy and resale appeal.
Lantana is now primarily an established resale market. That creates opportunities to purchase homes with mature landscaping and completed improvements, but it also makes careful inspection and comparison especially important.
The best Lantana home is not necessarily the largest one or the one with the most upgrades. It is the property that offers the strongest combination of condition, location, total ownership cost and long-term fit.
In Lantana, compare the complete cost and condition of the home, not just the purchase price.
Lantana contains numerous individually named neighborhoods developed across different phases of the community. While every section shares the broader Lantana identity, home styles, lot sizes, locations and surroundings can vary.
Here are four Lantana neighborhoods buyers may encounter during their search.

Bellaire is one of Lantana’s established residential sections. Buyers may find larger traditional homes, mature landscaping and convenient access to community amenities.

Gaillardia is an established Lantana neighborhood with a limited number of homes and convenient access to the trails, parks and amenities found throughout the community.

Laviana is known for larger homes and lots within Lantana. It may appeal to buyers seeking additional space while retaining access to the broader community amenities.

Reata offers another established residential setting within Lantana, with access to the community’s schools, recreation, trails and surrounding road network.
These are only a few of the named neighborhoods found throughout Lantana. Buyers may also encounter areas such as Wisteria, Meridian, Palmetto, Wimberley, Camden, Crescent, Sonora and others.
The right section depends on your budget, desired home size, lot preference, school assignment, proximity to amenities and tolerance for traffic near community entrances.

Lantana properties are served by multiple taxing entities, including special-purpose districts. Verify the current tax estimate for the exact property.
Buyers should review association dues, transfer-related charges, included services, facility rules and current governing documents before purchasing.
Lantana Golf Club is a private club. Golf membership is separate from the standard community-association amenities and should not be assumed to be included.
Homes were constructed during different phases of development. Compare updates, major systems, drainage, foundation performance and expected maintenance.
Proximity to schools, pools, community entrances, golf-course areas and major roads can affect convenience, noise, traffic, privacy and resale appeal.

Schools commonly serving Lantana addresses include Adkins Elementary, Blanton Elementary, E.P. Rayzor Elementary, Harpool Middle School and Guyer High School.
Individual assignments depend on the exact property address and current attendance boundaries. As enrollment and district needs change, attendance zones may be adjusted.
Buyers should verify the assigned elementary, middle and high schools for the individual property directly with Denton ISD before making a purchasing decision. School information displayed in a real estate listing should be treated as a starting point, not final confirmation.

Lantana’s southern Denton County location provides access to several surrounding communities, but it is not located directly on a major highway.
FM 407 connects the area with Bartonville, Highland Village, Lewisville and I-35E. FM 1171 provides access through Flower Mound toward Grapevine and other parts of DFW. Routes through Argyle connect residents with I-35W, Northlake, Alliance and Fort Worth.
Lantana can be convenient for destinations in Flower Mound, Highland Village, Denton, Argyle and nearby portions of southern Denton County. Commutes toward Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, Las Colinas or DFW Airport require more careful evaluation.
The specific neighborhood and community entrance matter. School traffic and congestion along Lantana Trail, FM 407 and surrounding roads can affect travel times.
Test the actual route from the property during the hours you expect to travel.
Lantana may be worth considering if you want:
An established home in a master-planned community
Access to pools, parks, trails, fitness facilities and sports courts
Schools and community facilities located close to home
A choice of traditional, golf-course, greenbelt and larger properties
A southern Denton County location near Argyle and Flower Mound
A community with mature landscaping and a recognizable local identity
Lantana may be less appealing if you want new construction, a traditional downtown, minimal association involvement, direct highway access or fewer community-related expenses.
The amenities and established setting create substantial appeal, but the specific home, taxes, association costs and location within the community should be evaluated carefully.
Consider Argyle if you want a more traditional small-town identity, custom-home options, acreage or access to newer master-planned communities.
Consider Flower Mound if you want more shopping, established municipal services, varied neighborhoods and access toward DFW Airport.
Consider Northlake if newer homes, active builder inventory, I-35W access and large master-planned communities are priorities.
Consider Double Oak if you prefer larger lots, a lower-density residential setting and proximity to Flower Mound and Highland Village.
Consider Denton if you want more housing variety, local restaurants, a recognizable downtown and access to both I-35E and I-35W.
Tell me your price range, timeframe and basic home criteria, and I’ll put together a focused list of Lantana homes and neighborhoods worth considering.
