6 Things to Do in Denton County This Weekend: September 4–6, 2026
Looking for something to do around Denton County this Labor Day weekend? I did some digging and found six events worth knowing about.
This weekend has a surprisingly good mix. There are free family events, outdoor activities, comics, bull riding, an early start to spooky season and one event in Lewisville that might be the sleeper pick of the entire weekend.

1. Argyle Home & Garden Show
Saturday, September 5 | 9 AM–2 PM
Robson Ranch Banquet Center
9400 Ed Robson Blvd., Denton
If you've got a home project sitting somewhere on your to-do list, this is a good place to start.
The Argyle Home & Garden Show brings together more than 50 local businesses covering landscaping, remodeling, outdoor living and other home-related projects. There will also be food, giveaways and prizes.
Admission and parking are free, and the event is family-friendly.
Why it's worth checking out: You can get some home-project inspiration while meeting local businesses serving the Argyle and Denton area.

2. Denton Comic Art Expo
Saturday, September 5 | 11 AM–5 PM
Denton Civic Center
321 E. McKinney St., Denton
Denton's free mini comic convention is back with comic artists, authors, makers, cosplay, panel discussions, trivia, a cosplay contest and food trucks.
If you've got a kid who is into superheroes, Pokémon, drawing, comics or cosplay, this one should probably be on the list.
Even better, admission is free.
Why it's worth checking out: It's a genuinely different family activity that doesn't cost anything to get through the door.

3. 1st Saturday Nature Walk at LLELA
Saturday, September 5 | 10 AM–Noon
Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area
201 E. Jones St., Lewisville
If your family could use a little time outside, head to LLELA Saturday morning for its First Saturday Nature Walk.
A Texas Master Naturalist leads the group on a leisurely hike through the preserve while looking for birds, animal tracks, native plants and other wildlife.
All ages are welcome. The walk itself is free with the normal $5-per-vehicle entry fee to LLELA. Registration is required.
Why it's worth checking out: It's inexpensive, educational and gives the kids something to actually look for while you're out on the trail.
4. Let's Get Western Bull Bash
Saturday, September 5 | 6:30–9:30 PM

101 Parkway Dr., Lewisville
Looking for something a little bigger Saturday night?
The Let's Get Western Bull Bash brings professional bull riding to Lewisville along with live music, inflatable attractions for kids and concessions.
General admission is $20, with tickets for kids ages 6–12 priced at $10.
Why it's worth checking out: This is probably the weekend's best option for families wanting something that feels more like an event than another Saturday night out for dinner.
5. SummerWeen at Water Works Park
Saturday, September 5 | 11 AM–7 PM
Water Works Park
2400 Long Rd., Denton
Apparently Denton has decided September is close enough to Halloween.
SummerWeen brings an early taste of spooky season to Water Works Park with Halloween décor and a spooky vendor market.
The event is free and family-friendly.
Why it's worth checking out: If your family is already ready to move on from summer and start thinking about pumpkins and Halloween, this gives you an excuse to start early.
6. Fiesta Charra
Sunday, September 6 | 4–10:30 PM
Bill Weaver Arena
101 Parkway Dr., Lewisville
This might be my sleeper pick of the weekend.
Fiesta Charra is a free celebration featuring traditional Mexican horsemanship, synchronized Escaramuza, Ballet Folklórico, horse dancing, lucha libre wrestling, pony rides, live music and even a jalapeño-eating contest.
There's a lot happening here, especially considering admission is free.
Why it's worth checking out: It's something different, there's plenty for the kids to see and do, and it's an opportunity to experience traditions you might not run across during a normal weekend in Denton County.
